Afeedha Sherin is a 22-year-old solo traveller from Malappuram, Kerala. What began as a childhood dream to see the Himalayas gradually shaped her into a traveller with a distinct approach, one rooted in independence, resilience, and openness to the unknown. At 22, she fulfilled that dream with a month-long solo journey through Spiti Valley, funding the trip entirely with savings she had set aside over nearly a decade.
Her travels extend beyond India. In the same year, she undertook her first international trip to Mauritius, where she lived for a month with a local family. Immersing herself in their food, language, and daily routines, she prioritised cultural exchange and community living over conventional tourism. Among the highlights of this trip was the rare experience of swimming alongside 12 whales, an encounter that reflects her preference for travel defined by discovery and immersion rather than rigid plans.
Afeedha’s work and experiences have been featured in The New Indian Express, The Times of India, Mathrubhumi, and other Malayalam publications, and she has spoken at TEDx. Currently completing her final year at the School of Planning and Architecture, New Delhi, she continues to balance her studies with a commitment to travel. Her journeys emphasise affordability, adaptability, and cultural engagement, marking her as a distinctive young voice in contemporary travel.
