Fidel Fernando is a writer based in Colombo. His first book, Upon a Sleepless Isle, is the only non-fiction book to win Sri Lanka's highest English-language literary prize - the Gratiaen Award. He also writes on politics and history, and is a senior writer at one of the world's leading cricket publications - ESPN Cricinfo. In his free time, Fidel is a good cook, a half-decent freediver and scuba diver, and an atrocious-yet-determined surfer.
