Kappukadu in Thiruvananthapuram

We are flooded by accounts of how humans discover new trails and paths in forests, and how these discoveries lead to intriguing and invigorating adventures. But for eons, these forests have been traversed by wild beings, who have always known the best possible paths, spots and destinations inside any given reserve. At Kappukadu in Thiruvananthapuram, sit atop an elephant, soak in the forest, and explore its lush scenery from the back of the gigantic tusker.

Our journey begins at the base of the famed Agasthya Hills, where one can avail the Jumbo Trek. Jointly promoted by the Department of Wildlife and Kottur Eco-development Committee, this half an hour jungle safari has gained traction among locals and tourists alike. The dense forests of Iravupara give you wonderful visuals of rare butterfly species and medicinal plants. A cool breeze serenades you the entire way and it is among the most refreshing experiences in Southern Kerala. Kappukadu also lets you see tamed elephants, both young ones and old, which add to the entire experience of the jungle ride.
