Muttum Viliyum, also called Cheeni Muttu, is a traditional orchestra of Kerala’s Muslim community that blends the sounds of the kuzhal (wind instrument), chenda, and cheriya chenda. Traditionally performed in groups while collecting charitable donations from neighbourhoods, this vibrant ensemble carries echoes of Panchavadyam, Kerala’s famed temple orchestra, while standing out with its distinct community roots and rhythm.
