An elder strikes the traditional drum inside Mishkal Mosque, Kuttichira, maintaining the centuries-old practice of marking prayer times. The Mishkal Mosque in Kuttichira, Kozhikode, is a 650-year-old wooden mosque built by Arab trader Nakhooda Mishkal. Once five-stories tall, it was partially restored by the Zamorin after Portuguese attacks.
