First constructed in the year 1813 AD, the Palayam Juma Masjid was renovated to its present form in the 1960s and was inaugurated in 1967 by the then President of India, Dr. Zakir Hussain. Located right in the heart of Thiruvananthapuram city, this mosque is visited by devotees from far and near.
Also known as Nainar Mosque, Vavar Mosque is located in Erumeli in Kerala, at around 45 km from Sabarimala Temple. During the pilgrimage season at Sabarimala, thousands flock to this mosque as part of their journey, as it is customary for Lord Ayyappa devotees to pray here before embarking on their trek to Sabarimala.
