The Thambaar is a traditional drum made from an animal skin membrane stretched over a piece of hollowed-out jackfruit wood. It holds a very sacred space in the mosque rituals of Kerala, especially in the Malabar region of North Kerala. The Thambaar is generally used during festivals, special prayers, and ritualistic announcements.
