Anjuruli is located in the highland region of Idukki, where forested slopes and reservoir edges define the landscape. The main feature is a long, circular tunnel cut through rock, designed to channel water across the terrain. The tunnel’s rounded opening is clearly visible at the outlet, where water flows out and collects below before moving into the surrounding water system.

The immediate area around the tunnel includes rocky surfaces, shallow water sections and patches of greenery. Depending on flow levels, the outflow may appear as a steady stream or a stronger cascade. The surrounding terrain gradually opens into a wider reservoir area, with hills and tree cover forming the backdrop. Pathways and open ground near the site allow visitors to approach the outlet and move along the edges.

The tunnel was constructed to channel water from the Erattayar dam toward the Idukki reservoir as part of the region’s hydro-engineering system. Anjuruli is now a visited location in Idukki, often included in travel routes covering dam viewpoints and forest areas. The site is accessible by road, and visitors typically combine it with nearby high-range destinations. Basic caution is required near the water outlet, especially during periods of increased flow.
