Ayyappan Kovil Hanging Bridge in Idukki stretches across a river section that curves through a valley bordered by hills and forest cover. From an elevated view, the full span of the bridge is visible along with the surrounding terrain, including mud roads, riverbanks and patches of vegetation. The bridge links two accessible points on either side, where pathways and open ground areas meet near the river.
The river flows steadily beneath the bridge, forming a visible bend as it moves through the valley. On one side, the slope rises gradually with a mix of trees and open patches, while the opposite side shows denser greenery near the water’s edge. Light mist can be seen moving across parts of the hills and river, partially covering sections of the landscape without fully obscuring visibility.
The bridge was constructed to connect Ayyappan Kovil and Kanchiyar panchayaths across the river, improving local accessibility. Located near the Sastha Temple at Mattukatta, it is now a commonly visited spot in this part of Idukki. The area is reachable by road, with open access throughout the day and no entry fee. Visitors often include it as part of routes covering nearby viewpoints, forest areas and the Idukki Dam region.
