Kerala is renowned for its sigh-inducing water carnivals and Champakulam Boat Race is one among them. It is the oldest Snake Boat Race in the State. Champakulam Boat Race initiates the annual boat race season of Kerala. The race is conducted on the River Pamba on Moolam day of the Malayalam month Midhunam (June/July), the day of the installation of the deity at the Ambalappuzha Sree Krishna Temple.
This year the festival will be held on 28th June.
