Mattupetty lake, Idukki

 

Mattupetty, located about 13 km from Munnar, is a delight for nature lovers. This tourist spot, situated at a height of 1700 m, offers beautiful sights. Lush green tea plantations, rolling grasslands and the Shola forests in and around Mattupetty are ideal for trekking and are habitat to a variety of birds.

One of the main attractions in Mattupetty is the beautiful lake and the Mattupetty Dam, which are ideal picnic spots. The District Tourism Promotion Council (DTPC), Idukki, provides boating facilities at he dam. Other nearby places of interest includes the scenic Kundala tea plantations and the Kundala Lake. Another attraction here is a dairy farm run by the Indo-Swiss Livestock Project.
