The Nilgiri Tahr is a rare and endangered species of mountain goats, endemic to the Nilgiri Hills of the Western Ghats. Resplendent in their majesty and brought back from the brink of extinction, these unique mountain goats are now protected inside the Eravikulam National Park in Idukki district. Herds of Nilgiri Tahrs can be observed at very close range by visitors to this park, located in the famous hill station of Munnar. Given a safe haven to breed and thrive, the Nilgiri Tahrs stun all those who behold them with their grace and strength.
