Theyyam

Theyyam

Typically performed in shrines and groves, the Theyyam is an authentic ritual art form of Kannur district. Here, the performer is assumed to be God Himself but he is simultaneously a devotee who uses the dance form to appease and worship the Almighty. The belief that underlies the Theyyam performance is that the Gods guarantee social harmony and prosperity to people.
