The Kakkulangara Mosque at Valapattanam, near Kannur, combines Kerala’s traditional architectural style with Arabic influences. Legends connect its origin either to Malik Ibn Dinar, one of the earliest Persian scholars to arrive in India, or to a Kolathiri king who embraced Islam.
