Valapattanam Kakkulangara Mosque

Valapattanam Kakkulangara Mosque

The Kakkulangara Mosque at Valapattanam, near Kannur, combines Kerala’s traditional architectural style with Arabic influences. Its serene pond, ancient minaret, and adjoining dargah make it both a place of worship and a cultural landmark. Legends connect its origin either to Malik Ibn Dinar, one of the earliest Persian scholars to arrive in India, or to a Kolathiri king who embraced Islam.
