Saukar Masjid, one of the oldest mosques in Alappuzha, was built over 250 years ago by the Halayi Momen community, who migrated from Gujarat. Erected on land granted by Raja Keshavadas, Diwan of Travancore, the mosque is a rare example of Turkish and Eastern European architectural styles in Kerala.
