Kurumulaku Kanji or Pepper Porridge

Kurumulaku Kanji or Pepper Porridge is a delicious dish that is finds its roots in Kerala’s tribal cuisine. This preparation is usually prescribed to women after the third day of delivery, to be taken daily for a month. A nutritious meal, it is the perfect combination of taste and health. This video shows the traditional recipe and method of preparing Kurumulaku Kanji.

Ingredients
Pepper powder
Cumin powder
Imodakam (ajwain)
Crushed garlic
Coconut milk
Rice (kuthari)
Salt

Method of preparation
Boil some water in a big earthen vessel and into this add all the ingredients (pepper powder, cumin powder, imodakam (ajwain), crushed garlic, salt and coconut milk. Upon boiling, add rice (kuthari). Stir a bit. Boil for half an hour or till the rice gets adequately cooked.
