Kozhikode Beach

Kozhikode Beach

The scenic Kozhikode beach is a popular tourist destination among locals and foreigners alike. The marine aquarium at the northern end of the coastline has a good collection of marine and fresh-water fish. It is open to visitors during the daytime.

A lighthouse about three kilometres from the aquarium and two wharfs, more than a hundred years old, that extend into the sea are the other attractions of the beach. There is also a children's park nearby.

A visit to the Dolphin's Point at dawn offers an opportunity to spot dolphins frolicking in the sea. On the beach, visitors are greeted by capricious waves that gently lap the shores one moment and crash down with force the very next.

The beach is also an ideal place for trying out local snacks like pickled fruits and seafood delicacies like Kallumekaya (mussels) available at the numerous stalls lining the promenade. Kozhikode Beach is one of the best spots in Kerala to hang out with friends or family.
