Payyambalam Beach

Payyambalam Beach

Situated near St Angelo's Fort, Payyambalam beach is a popular picnic spot.  Its serene and beautiful setting makes it popular among locals and tourists alike. It is also the place where the mortal remains of the celebrated journalist Swadeshabhimani Ramakrishna Pillai and Communist leader A. K. Gopalan were laid to rest.

Alongside beautiful natural formations like the wave-lashed laterite cliffs that extend into the sea, there is a gigantic sculpture - 'Mother and Child' - created by renowned sculptor, Kanayi Kunhiraman, and a finely landscaped park called Baby Beach here.

There are also country-boat rides through the backwaters of the Korapuzha river to Kappad beach for visitors to enjoy. The backwaters bordered by beautiful greenery offer a view of the pristine Nature unsullied by humans.
