A sea of blue flowers!

After all how much honey can the bees gather from a sea of blue flowers!?

Peechi Dam and Vazhani

The Peechi Dam

Twenty kilometers east of Thrissur town there is an enchanting spot by a dam. Take a couple of hours off from the drive and make a detour to this place where you can take a stroll through a beautiful garden. Or get into a boat and take a ride through the placid water soaking in those mellifluous birdsongs coming from the woods. Sit back and catch nature in her offbeat moods. If you’re lucky you may catch elephants bathing on the banks of the river.

Are you type adventurous? Peechi opens its secret alleys through thick woods where you can trek deep into the soul of the wild. The green may sting your eyes with its brilliance especially after a rain. There are some beautiful falls inside the forest, where you can take a dip in the pool, sloughing off all your tiredness from the drive.  The sanctuary is part of the Palapilli-Nelliampathy forests and forms the northern boundary of the Chimmini Wildlife Sanctuary.

Another beautiful place you can check out on your journey to Eravikulam is Vazhani dam in Thrissur district. The sedate and serene mood of the lethargic river soothes the mind like Zen music. You’d be half in a dream ambling through the lush green woods imbibing the songs of birds. Dwarfed by tall trees you feel as if you stand in heaven amidst the pillars of the divine palace.

Vazhani, constructed across Wadakkancherry River for irrigation purposes is situated 23 kilometers from Thrissur and is connected to Peechi forest.
