Kerala’s Second Highest Peak Shrouded in Mist

Rising to 2,640 meters above sea level, Meesapulimala stands as one of Kerala's most spectacular mountain landscapes, second only to Anamudi in height. Located near Munnar in the Idukki district, this peak gets its name from its whisker-like shape (Meesa meaning moustache, and Pulimala meaning tiger hill). The terrain is a blend of vast grasslands, rugged cliffs, and shola forests, creating a mosaic of green that stretches endlessly into the horizon.

The scene here is often surreal as clouds drift lazily across the slopes, veiling and unveiling jagged rock faces and valleys in slow motion. Trekkers walking along the ridges are greeted with panoramic views of the Western Ghats, where the mountains merge seamlessly into the skies. The play of light, mist, and shadow makes every moment unique, whether it's dawn breaking over the peaks or the afternoon sun scattering across the grasslands.

A trek to Meesapulimala is both challenging and rewarding. It offers not just the thrill of climbing but also encounters with rare flora and wildlife that thrive in this high-altitude ecosystem. Meesapulimala is one of Kerala's most awe-inspiring destinations for those seeking solitude, adventure, and a deep connection with nature.
