One of the holiest places in God's Own Country, Sivagiri Mutt at Varkala in Thiruvananthapuram district is the final resting place of the eminent leader, saint and social reformer of Kerala, Sree Narayana Guru. The sprawling 200-acre campus is home to Guru's residence, which displays his personal belongings, and a Sharada temple. Thousands of pilgrims in yellow attire from across Kerala gather here during the Sivagiri pilgrimage which is observed from December 30 to January 1.
