A change occurred in the Guru's temple concept with the consecration of the Karamukku Temple in Thrissur. When the organizers requested him to consecrate a deity, the Guru replied that instead of an idol, it would be enough to hang a lamp. The Guru added that the people would be satisfied if pictures of various deities were placed around the lamp. Until then, the Guru had given importance to idol worship in his temple consecrations. Here, for the first time, he consecrated a three-wicked lamp instead. ‘Chidambaram’ was the name the Guru designated for the Temple implying the 'Sky of Knowledge'. Here, light is visualized. The Guru viewed every deity as a symbol that could lead the devotee to enlightenment.
