Koratty Muthy Feast

Celebrated in the second week of October every year, the Koratty Muthy’s Feast, held at St. Mary’s Forane Church, is a festival with a rustic charm to it. Koratty, where the festival is being held is a picturesque village in Thrissur district. The festival is dedicated to Virgin Mary, locally known as Koratty Muthy. Colourful pageantry and rituals are the highlights of this festival attended by hundreds of devotees. The main offering here is Poovankula. Thulabharam’ (an offering symbolizing total surrender of the self before Muthy whereby devotees weigh their body weight) with “Poovan Kula” (a variety of Plantain) is the highlight.
