This video shows the preparation of Theeyal. Theeyal is a curry served with rice.

Shallots (halved) - 1 cup
Mustard - 1 tsp
Tamarind juice - half cup
Green chilli (sliced & cut into half) - 2
Red chilli - 2
Curry leaves
Ground paste - 1 cup

For ground paste
Grated coconut - 1 cup
Coriander seeds - 1 tbsp
Red chilli - 10
Fenugreek seeds - 1 and half tsp
Curry leaves

Method of preparation
Roast red chillies in a pan. Add grated coconut and roast it for two minutes. Now add coriander seeds and roast it till brown. Add fenugreek seeds and stir for a minute. Let it cool and grind the mix to a smooth paste. Keep it aside. Heat some oil in a pan. Splutter mustard seeds, red chillies and curry leaves. Add halved shallots and split green chillies. Saute it for three four minutes. Add salt, tamarind juice and ground paste. Saute for another five minutes. Add enough water, cover the vessel and cook. Ulli theeyal is ready.
