Idli
Ingredients
Raw White Rice - 2 cups
Black Gram - 1 cup
Salt
Coconut Oil
Method of Preparation
Soak two cups of raw white rice (pachari) and one cup of skinned black gram for 4 to 6 hrs. Grind the soaked rice and gram separately. Mix it well and keep for atleast 8 hours. Now the batter is ready. Add salt to the batter and stir well. Pace the idli maker on the stove, add water and let it boil. Oil the idli plates, pour the batter and place it in the idli maker. Cover it with lid and let it cook for sometime. When the steam start coming out, switch off the stove and open the idli maker. Take out the idli plates after checking whether the idlies are well cooked. To remove the idlies easily from the plates, wait for few minutes to let the idlies become slightly cool. Take the idlies from the plate with the tail end of a spoon or a spatula. Serve it with Sambhar or Chutney.
