Abseiling in Kerala is performed in a safe adventure park environment as opposed to dramatic cliff faces. At certified locations, you are allowed to go down a wall or a tower with a harness and support from the staff. It is an excellent way for new climbers and children-rearing units to experience rope-based activities without requiring a full rock-climbing skills.

Presently, abseiling can be done at Indriya Sands Adventure Park near Kuzhupilly and Cherai, Ernakulam district as per the Kerala Tourism-approved list. Here, abseiling is the mix of a wide range of high-rope challenges and water-based activities performed by the trained and modern-safety-equipped guides.

Being these parks close to the beaches and backwaters, activity timing may depend on the weather and the number of people. So, it is good to check the opening hours and get the services with the operator before you go.

Tips

Match Comfort

If you are not used to heights, start your abseiling with the shortest descents. Also, tell your instructor if you are feeling nervous.

Plan Ahead

It is better to call the operator to check the timing, age/weight limits, and if abseiling will be available on your visiting day.

Safety First

Never forget to wear the harness and helmet given to you. Pay attention during the safety briefing, and follow the guide's instructions when you are descending.

Dress Right

You should wear closed shoes and comfortable clothes that do not restrict your movement. Also, it would be better if you didn’t wear scarves or any other accessories that can be caught or can fall off.
