Jeep‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‌ safaris in Kerala are a great way to access the hill stations, forests, and nature trails of the countryside, which are usually inaccessible to normal vehicles. Most of the safaris are organized by adventure parks or certified operators who use 4x4 jeeps on the tracks that have been approved. Emphasis is given to scenic spots, plantation trails, and sometimes roads close to the wildlife areas, while always following the local regulations and safety norms.

The jeep safari season is mainly from October to March. An overnight ride may be postponed or cancelled if it is raining heavily, there is poor visibility, or the track is unsafe. In addition, all safaris are performed with a driver/guide who takes care of the route, issuing of basic instructions, and safety briefings before the trip.

Most of the operators provide short scenic safaris and long circuits that combine the viewpoints, photo stops, and local village or plantation visits. Visitors have to follow the guide’s instructions, stay in the vehicle during the off-road parts, and respect the local communities and wildlife along the way.
