Chaliyar River Paddle 2021

Chaliyar River Paddle 2021

Imagine an adventure-sport event where you can have fun and create unforgettable memories in a safe and eco-friendly way. Sounds too good to be true right? That’s what Chaliyar River Paddle 2021 is all about. With a tagline, ‘go plastic negative’, the seventh edition of the annual water sports event will be focussing on the issue of plastic pollution in Indian rivers. The paddling event, which will be held from November 12-14, 2021, is organised by Jellyfish Watersports in association with Kerala Tourism.

The three-day event will see participants starting from Nilambur, located on the foothills of Western Ghats, and travelling along the Chaliyar river, exploring its length, camping, enjoying the local food and culture while doing their bit to preserve Chaliyar. The event ends at Beypore in Kozhikode district where the river joins the Arabian Sea.

The event welcomes paddlers of various levels from beginners to non-swimmers to seasoned water sports enthusiasts and anyone with an adventurous spirit. While everyone above 10 years and above is eligible to participate in the event, even kids below 10-years-old can take part along with a parent or guardian. And trainers will be present on the spot to prepare the participants if they don’t have any prior paddling experience.

The organisers have also promised robust safety arrangements including river experts, lifeguards, support staff, hydration points along the waterway, certified water jackets, and world-class equipment. The organisers have also arranged strong medical emergency response team and rescue assistance.

Apart from the exhilarating water sport, participants can also let their hair down and enjoy the beauty of the landscape at various campsites dotted along the waterway. The campsites will also host a variety of special attractions such as bonfires, camping, experiencing authentic Kerala cuisines, and local tribal music.

The organisers also promise to follow strict covid protocols for enhanced safety of the participants.
