Testimonials

John’s Villa was absolutely wonderful. I was looking to escape the city in hopes to avoid the loud and boisterous New Years Eve celebrations and I found peace and solace in John’s Villa. Where to begin raving? I’ll begin with the basics: the bedroom is spacious with a large bed with a firm mattress, luggage rack, armoire and hanging rack. The bathroom is small but there is a shelf to place your toiletries. The sitting room was a perfect for reading at night. The door and windows have screens so you can leave the windows and door open to get fresh air without the mosquitoes getting inside. I spent a majority of my days in the shaded outside sitting area reading and writing. The view of the yard of coconut and banana trees and the bullock cart did not get old from the outdoor sitting area. The shared kitchen is stocked with everything you need to prepare your own meals. Now the hospitality: Mary is simply amazing. She was in contact with me at least two days before I checked in

We really hoped that Mary’s place would give us an opportunity to get away from the tourist trail and experience authentic, everyday Keralan village life - and this is precisely what we got! And what a very warm, welcoming reception from all of Mary’s neighbours! There are spots around the garden to relax, and an outdoor dining area. But this homestay is really about opportunities in the village - we learned about g

We spent a lovely month in Mary’s house. She is a really nice and courageous woman since her husband died recently and she has to run the place on her own. I’s so great that she has such wonderful neighbors like Vigy, Benny and their children who were very helpful, treated us with some delicious Kerala food and even invited us to celebrate Christmas together. The village is away from busy life which makes it a perfect place to relax and enjoy the nature. People around are very nice. There are many small shops and local restaurants around. The public transportation system is well developed so you can get pretty much everywhere from a bus stop in just tens of meters away from the house. But if you got used to getting aground on a scooter there’re not many options. Vigy and Benny got us one but it wasn’t cheap and took some time to arrange since it’s not really a touristic place. Another option could be to rent it in Cochin which is in two hours drive from the village and is definitely wo
