Surya Samudra

Claimed by the promoters as the living expression of Kerala's ancient and vibrant civilization, hotel Surya Samudra located at the renowned beach destination of Kovalam in Thiruvananthapuram is spread over lush green acres of landscaped tropical gardens. This serene beach resort perched on a cliff and overlooking the azure Arabian Sea is frequented by travellers who would love to experience the best of the Sun, sand, sea and other experience unique to Surya Samudra.

Surya Samudra came into existence at a time when the concept of a resort was relatively an unknown entity in Kerala. It was in the early eighties that Surya Samudra made its appearance at Kovalam with its inspiring concept in its layout that reflected the traditional architecture of Kerala. It was an approach that was never tried in Kerala before in the hospitality sector. The whole concept of a beachside resort in traditional architectural style initiated by Surya Samudra became a trendsetter for others to follow suit.

It is a heritage resort that values your privacy and allows you to create a world of your own, whether indoors or outdoors. The beach front at Surya Samudra is less frequented by the public, keeping the hustle and bustle of the world outside at bay. Besides, the two sea-facing restaurants and poolside bar revs up the overall ambience at Surya Samudra.

Each residence is set apart in a private enclave where you can even call in for some in-room therapy from Spa Niraamaya.

Accommodation
At Surya Samudra guests are accommodated in homes that exude traditional architecture. The terracotta roofs, tiled floors, wooden pillars and ornate doors evoke a heady sense of romance with the past. Every article of furniture, painting and decoration is in tune with a period from history. And they also feature modern amenities. Some of the residences stand graciously on a cliff offering magnificent views of the sea, while others sit snugly in palm groves that dot the hillside.

Food
For the guests at Surya Samudra, the place is like home away from home, when it comes to food. The cuisine spread at this heritage resort is from all over the world with the added delight of local delicacies. Oottupura, the all-day dining restaurant or Kanal, the grill would invariably have the guests at Surya Samudra enjoy the food along with the splendid views of the sea. And, of course, the poolside bar - Madira is another favourite spot to unwind, here at Surya Samudra.

Rejuvenation
Travel for leisure these days also is devoted to wellbeing. At Surya Samudra - the Spa, Niraamaya is where guests can explore and experience the ways by which one can rejuvenate in the traditional way. Here, guests often undergo the mystical and restorative powers of the ancient healthcare wisdom of India - Ayurveda. And those who prefer the privacy of their rooms may call in for some in-room therapy.

At Surya Samudra, you can also begin your day with Yoga under the guidance of expert trainers or else may go for a stroll on the beach or relax in the infinity pool, carved out of a single block of granite

Entertainment
The evenings at Surya Samudra come alive with Kerala's classical theatre, dance, music, and other performing arts. It is an opportunity for the guests at Surya Samudra to get familiar and enjoy a host of cultural representations of Kerala at a single place.

Special services
During your stay at Surya Samudra, you can avail of a range of special services that include baby-sitting, doctor-on-call, life-guards on the beach and by the pool, tailor-made packages and luxury cars, including Ferrari.
