Kerala Getting Ready for Christmas

Streets lined with colourful stars, flickering Christmas trees, shops with creamy cakes, Christmas is right around the corner and Kerala has geared up to welcome her favourite month of the year!

More than a festival, Christmas is an emotion for the people of Kerala! Just like the shimmering lights that embellish the crib you make, the celebration lights up every corner of your heart and home.

A stroll through the streets of God’s Own Country in a full on glittery Christmas eve will leave you with sights of dramatic lights and homes dressed up in vibrant hues and children singing and dancing Christmas carols. There will be special masses and celebrations in churches as well.

This is the best season to visit Kerala. Every nook and corner of the State will be colourful with scores of festivities. Irrespective of caste and creed Kerala join hands to make each Christmas memorable.

Besides the multitude of celebrations hosted by churches, clubs, and organizations, the Kerala Tourism itself conducts numerous spectacular events and programmes such as Fort Kochi’s biggest gala, the Cochin Carnival. This ostentatious fiesta organised by the District Tourism Promotion Council (DTPC), Ernakulam is celebrated in the last two weeks of December.

This is the season when the flavours of Christian delicacies rule every Kerala Kitchen, families come together to rejoice and all shine with love, laughter and joy.

Christmas will never be complete without a piece of cake and a glass of wine. Special wines and cakes are made in homes and churches. Shops will also be filled with the same.

Night long festivities and sleepless waiting for Santa, rhythm of carol songs and surprise gifts from that white bearded grandpa are all aspects that make the fiesta even more merry.

Come, jingling and laughing all the way!

Let’s together make this Christmas blissful!
