Thottapalli – A Vibrant and Bustling Shoreline

The beach at Thottapalli may not be on the list of charming beach destinations. Still it will appeal to a visitor with its calm ambience, black sand and tree-fringed shores. Being a harbour, the beach situated in Alappuzha district is a vibrant place throughout the day. If you are looking to spend a good evening, Thottapalli Beach is ideal for a relaxed stroll, the views it offers and to get a feel of fishing. It is a popular spot for sunset views. Another attraction is the spillway. It was constructed to direct fresh water to the east and saline water to the west. The excess water coming from Upper and Lower Kuttanad is directed via the spillway. It was commissioned in 1955. It is designed to drain 19,500 cu. m of water into the sea during a flood situation.
