Centre Likely to Include More Kerala Destinations in Global Destination Initiative

More destinations from Kerala are likely to be included under the Central Government's Global Destination initiative, Kerala Tourism Minister P.C. Vishnunadh has said.

The minister made the announcement following a meeting with Union Tourism Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat in New Delhi. According to Mr  P.C. Vishnunadh, the discussions received a positive response from the Centre, raising expectations for the inclusion of additional destinations from Kerala under the initiative.

Mr  P.C.  Vishnunadh said the meeting also covered the Centre's evolving approach to tourism development programmes, including the existing Swadesh Darshan scheme. The Union Minister briefed the Kerala delegation on the Centre's new perspective on these initiatives and the opportunities they present for states.

The two ministers also held preliminary discussions on securing greater Central assistance for Kerala's tourism sector and strengthening support for tourism infrastructure and destination development in the state.

The proposed inclusion of more destinations under the Global Destination initiative is expected to provide a boost to Kerala's tourism sector by enhancing the visibility of its destinations and creating new opportunities for tourism development.
