A New Jetty for Ernakulam Wharf .

The backwaters of Kerala are one of its most attractive facets. Today, the Kettuvallams , smaller boats and other craft  constantly traverse these waters. The city of Kochi has become the focal point for most of these craft, with the waterways in and around Kochi being frequently used. However, the  infrastructure available is not enough to meet the ever growing demands.

The Government of Kerala and the Department of Tourism have jointly decided to develop infrastructure of an international standard in the area. As a part of this, a small wooden jetty has been commissioned with all the amenities required for the tourist at the Ernakulam Wharf. Facilities at the jetty are to include a spacious waiting area, a snack counter, travel desk, VIP room, public toilets and  a reception. The construction of the jetty is to undertaken by the Central Works Public Department.
