Published in Newsletter Issue No. 140 - Apr 1 2005

Over 60 people including tour operators and media personnel from Germany and adjoining countries had a rich sampling of the delights of God's Own Country at an exclusive Kerala Trade Meet held at the Hotel Grand Hyatt in Berlin. Making the meet a momentous one for Kerala Tourism was the first international screening of the new tourism TV Commercial, Life in God's Own Country, which was widely appreciated. The meet was a tremendous success with the travel and tourism fraternity from Germany showing a keen interest in God's Own Country.

The trade meet was held to consolidate on the massive interest generated by Kerala Tourism at the ITB, Berlin, where Kerala was the largest represented State in the India pavilion.

“The response from both the trade and the media has been very positive. Our strong representation at Berlin this year, I am sure, will make a big difference in tourist arrivals from Europe in the coming season,” said Mr. K. C. Venugopal, Minister for Tourism, Kerala, who led the Kerala delegation.

A presentation by Mr. E. K. Bharat Bhushan, Principal Secretary, Tourism threw more light into the tourism products and the latest developments in tourism in the State to the gathering. Apart from Mr. Bharat Bhushan, the meet also saw all trade members from Kerala who were part of the ITB delegation. “The active participation of Kerala's tourism trade is the winning factor for Kerala Tourism at all such meets and fairs. They are constantly coming up with more innovative packaging of our products - which will definitely help in bringing in more repeat visitors,” remarked Mr. Bharat Bhushan.

“ I am very much impressed by the quality of invitees to the meet. This talks volumes about the deep commitment Kerala Tourism has in its initiatives - whether it be developing products, promoting or marketing the State,” observed Mr. Ranjit Mathew of Coconut Bay Beach Resort.
