Master plan to develop Neyyar Dam.
A master plan with an outlay of Rs.182.5 million has been prepared for the development of Neyyar Dam, a popular picnic spot in Thiruvananthapuram district. The plan developed by the Department of Tourism under the Heritage Tourism project will be implemented in four phases in association with the District Tourism Promotion Council.
The project aims at developing Neyyar Dam as a tourist destination of international standards. In the first phase a security cabin, facilitation centre, parking area, roads, bridges, children?s park, toilet blocks, swimming pool, cottages, boating facilities etc. will be set up.
A guest house, pavillion, crocodile park, additional cottages and boating facilities are scheduled for the second phase. In the third phase a resort of international standards will be constructed at a cost of Rs.7 million besides a ropeway and the development of the Safari Park.
In the final phase modernisation of the park will be done at a cost of Rs.4 million, in addition to trekking facilities and other development works.
