Strict monitoring for Ayurveda massage parlours

Published in Newsletter Issue No. 141 - May 1 2005

The Government would closely monitor the functioning of ayurveda massage parlours in the state and would impose strict control, said Mr. K. C. Venugopal, Minister for Tourism. The minister revealed this during his discussion with a delegation of the Indian Association of Travel Agents (IATA) in Thiruvananthapuram. It was also decided in the meeting that the tourism department authorities would hold talks with the Thiruvananthapuram Corporation authorities and hoteliers. The minister assured the delegation that he would raise the issue of unifying the road tax in the southern states' tourism minister's conference. Various issues including reduction of power tariff, relaxing the luxury tax for banquet halls and avoiding the delay in the issuance of temporary permits for tourist taxis would be discussed with authorities of the respective departments, the minister said.
