For the connoisseurs of art and culture, Kerala Kalamandalam and Kerala Tourism joined hands in opening up the portals of Kerala Kalamandalam located at Cheruthuruthy in Thrissur. This has now been made possible through the introduction of the novel programme ?A day with the masters.?
Visitors to Kalamandalam can now get a feel of the nuances of ancient Gurukula system of learning in its true sense. This programme has been implemented to provide the visitors, a reasonably good understanding of the lifelong devotion, commitment and perseverance that goes into the mastery of Kerala?s rich repertoire of art forms. The programme indeed is an experience
that unravels the golden memories of yore and the unlimited hope standing at the footsteps of each new dawn.
?A day with the masters? involves an interesting set of schedules for a visitor, and are as follows: Audio-visual presentation on Kalamandalam and the performing arts of Kerala, presentation of Koothambalam, the temple theatre, detailed tour of ten to fifteen kalaris, presentation on the mural painting Nrittyolpathi, the origin of dance, visit to the costume gallery, visit to the old Kalamandalam campus on the banks of the River Nila, traditional Kerala lunch at a nearby resort.
By throwing the corridors of art open to visitors through this new venture, Kalamandalam aims to convey the significance of upholding the priceless tradition of teaching and learning.
