Tourism project for Neyyar Dam
According to the Minister for Tourism, Prof. K. V. Thomas, a separate tourism development project would be implemented at Neyyar Dam, through the direct supervision of the State Government.
The minister made this statement at a conclave of executives and elected representatives from the Neyyar Dam area, which was convened to discuss tourism developmental activities in the area.
Some of the priority areas that need immediate attention are the modernization of the fresh water aquarium and providing facility for fish breeding. Other suggestions made during the meeting include, starting of an information center, renovation of children?s park and to explore the possibilities of developing eco-tourism centers. The proposed developmental activities are to be implemented through the Departments of Tourism, Fisheries, Forest, Water Authority and the District Tourism Promotion Council.
