In pace with the changing times: Mascot Hotel Renovated

Cast in a new mould, the Mascot Hotel in Thiruvananthapuram looks far more regal, plush and magnificent than ever before. Thanks to Kerala Tourism for giving a splendid facelift to the oldest star hotel in the city and thereby elevating it to the Five Star category.

The renovated Mascot Hotel, is equipped with all the state-of-the-art facilities including four conference halls and one boardroom. The conference halls named Symphony, Harmony, Melody and Sonata, have the capacity to accommodate up to 1000 seats. The boardroom, 'Sopanam' is ideal for private gatherings.

For food freaks, the main restaurant and the specialty Restaurant in the Hotel offers a varied range of cuisine. 'Swathi', the main restaurant serves multi-cuisine menu in a beautiful ambiance while 'Poonthalika', the specialty restaurant caters to people who are fond of ethnic cuisine. Not to mention, the coffee lounge, 'Surabhi' and 'Rubaiyat', the bar; the perfect places for you to chill out.

There are 64 rooms in the hotel - 36 deluxe rooms, 11 executive rooms and two suit rooms of international standards apart from 15 rooms in the old block.

The major highlights of the renovated hotel are the Ayurvedic rejuvenation therapies including rejuvenating oil massages, refreshing medicated baths, herbal diets, Yoga and meditation offered at 'Age Halt', the Ayurvedic centre. Other added attractions are 'Kayakalpa', the Health Club, 'Kalippoyka', the swimming pool, 'Lavanya', the ladies parlour and 'Soundarya' the gents parlour. All these names were suggested by the well-known Malayalam poet, Mr.O.N.V. Kurup.

The renovated Mascot Hotel was inaugurated by Chief Minister Mr.A.K.Antony at a function held in the Symphony Conference Hall at the hotel. The Minister for Tourism, Mr.P.Sankaran presided over the function. Mr.B.Vijayakumar M.L.A, Mr.O.Rajagopal,former union Minister, Mr.T.Balakrishnan, Secretary, Kerala Tourism, Mr.T.O.Sooraj, Director, Kerala Tourism, Ms.Tinku Biswal, District Collector,Thiruvananthapuram, Mr. M.N.Gunavardhanan, Managing Director of Kerala Tourism Development Corporation and Mr.E.M.Najeeb spoke at the occasion.
