SBT launches 'tourism special' loans
The State Bank of Travancore (SBT) has devised 'tourism special' loan schemes for hoteliers, tour operators, and organizers of pilgrimage and for eco tourism. The construction and modernisation of Yatri Nivas, hotels, motels and cottages would also come under this. Financial help would also be provided to travel and tourism agents for setting up offices, purchasing computer and other office equipments. Tour organisers can avail the scheme for buying vehicles and houseboats.
Loans would be given for setting up restaurants, ice cream parlours, amusement parks, health clubs and massage parlours in tourism zones. In selected tourism destinations financial help will be given for modernising houses, which provide accommodation for paying guests. Individuals, companies, Trusts and Self help co- operatives can apply for the loan. The annual interest rate is 9.50% and the repayment period would be three years to seven years.
