Better days to come for Kerala shopping

With the government?s decision to set up a Festival Authority to make the state a major shopping hub on the lines of Dubai Shopping Festival (DSF), days are getting brighter for the shopping sector of Kerala. While releasing the DSF 2008 Malayalam guide and launching the website, Mr. Kodiyeri Balakrishnan, Minister for Tourism, has said that the government has received an additional revenue of Rs. 900 million through the Grand Kerala Shopping Festival (GKSF).

The government has increased the budgetary assistance to GKSF from Rs.150 million to Rs. 200 million. Assistance of DSF authorities will also be sought for the successful conduct of GKSF in the 14 districts of the state. Talks are also on with the Dubai government in setting up projects in potential areas like tourism.
