Visit Kerala 2015 Kicks off on Vishu

Kerala Tourism’s innovative campaign ‘Visit Kerala 2015’ has kicked off on Vishu, which marks the beginning of agrarian calendar in Kerala, with the distribution of payasam and authentic Kerala food to the airline passengers of Air India, Air India Express and Jet Airways.

Visit Kerala campaign was officially launched in Delhi by Dr. Mahesh Sharma, Union Minister of State for Culture and Tourism (Independent Charge) and Civil Aviation. “Kerala needs to be promoted across the world. Its beauty is splendorous and its hospitality top-rate,” said Dr. Sharma during the launch.

“Starting this Vishu, up to the next Vishu in 2016, every visitor to Kerala will experience ‘God’s Own Country’ like never before. We hope that the Visit Kerala campaign will be an edge to Kerala Tourism and contribute to the revenue of the state” said Mr. A.P. Anilkumar, Minister for Tourism, Kerala.

Tourists to Kerala will be welcomed with an array of surprise offers by Kerala Tourism. The trade partners in Kerala are ready to woo the travellers to the state during the Visit Kerala period with attractive offers and value added services.  A new set of souvenirs will be marketed with the support of Kudumbashree units.

The major focus of the campaign is to aggressively showcase tourism products that are unique to the state like Ayurveda, Responsible Tourism and culinary traditions.

“Since Vishu is an auspicious day for Keralities, we thought that this would be a good beginning”, said Mr. G. Kamala Vardhana Rao, Secretary, Kerala Tourism.

“We have tied up with Air India, Air India Express and Jet Airways to promote the Visit Kerala initiative. Their in-flight magazines will also carry articles on ‘Visit Kerala’”, said Mr. P. I. Sheik Pareeth, Director, Kerala Tourism.

‘Visit Kerala 2015’ will promote Kerala Tourism products like cultural festivals, weddings, Meetings, Incentives, Conferences and Exhibitions (MICE). It will also showcase the Spice Route- Muziris heritage through an international campaign to promote heritage tourism in the state.

Visit Kerala will also feature innovative and interactive programmes, ranging from Ayurveda to adventure trips, from destination weddings to heritage tourism, from food festivals to quiz competitions and thereby make Kerala an all-season destination.
