Dr. Venu V., IAS, has assumed office as the Principal Secretary, Kerala Tourism. Dr. Venu was also formerly the Secretary, Department of Cultural Affairs, Kerala, and Joint Secretary, Ministry of Culture; Government of India. It was during his tenure as the Director General of the National Museum, Delhi that the museum underwent a structural as well as organisational transformation. Dr. Venu also played a major role in the Incredible India campaign during his time in the Ministry of Tourism, Government of India.
Dr. Venu was Tourism Secretary in the State between 2006 and 2011. Known for his progressive ideas, Dr. Venu was behind Kerala Tourism’s popular Rural and Responsible Tourism initiatives, which received global acclaim in recent times. Also the former Director for Tourism, it was during his term that IT initiatives were launched for the promotion of tourism in the state.
