Mr. Kadakampally Surendran, Minister for Tourism, Kerala, has launched the civil works to develop the Kolathukara Siva Temple at Kulathoor which figures in the Pilgrim Heritage Tourism Circuit Project of Kerala Tourism.

Apart from helping the pilgrims who visit the temple, this developmental project will also enable the overall development of the region, the Minister has said. The work is expected to be finished within one and a half years, he added.

The plan is to develop the Kulangara Sri Krishna Swamy Temple at Kazhakoottam, Kolathukara Siva Temple at Kulathoor and the Manvila Subrahmanya Swamy Temple which figure in the Pilgrim Heritage Tourism Circuit Project. These temples are also largely visited by pilgrims from other states during their pilgrimage to Sabarimala Temple and the Aranmula Temple.

The project will hugely benefit the tourism sector in Southern Kerala and aid in the development of the region, Mr. P. Bala Kiran IAS, Director, Kerala Tourism, has said. He also added that similar projects are being devised in other regions in Kerala.

The construction works at the Kulangara Temple and Manvila Temple are slated to begin soon.
