Travellers lap up Virtual Tour Campaign

Kerala Tourism’s Virtual Tour Campaign has come as a blessing for travellers cooped inside their houses for long due to Covid-19. Tourists, who are in love with the God’s own country, have voted passionately in the monthly polls conducted as part of the campaign to select the best destination under each category.

More than 11,000 registrations amid the pandemic are themselves proof that the campaign, which kicked off on December 28, 2020, has created waves in the tourism circles across the globe. Over 80,000 votes have been cast since the launch of the campaign.

As part of the campaign, select tourist destinations under a category will be put up for voting in a month. The tourist spot that gets the maximum number of votes will be featured in the virtual tour for a particular month in the tourism website.

Four months into the campaigning, people from all walks of life have voted for their favourites among beaches, hill stations, backwaters and village life experience destinations. Based on travellers’ preferences under each category, Kerala Tourism features a virtual tour of Kovalam (beach), Munnar (hill station) and Alappuzha (backwaters) in its website. High-definition videos with vibrant frames and attractive story-telling of the virtual tours have given succour to travellers during Covid-19 times.

The campaign has now entered the last leg with the voting in categories of cultural trails and waterfalls remaining.

After the completion of the monthly polls, a Mega Lucky Draw awaits travellers. The seven lucky winners of monthly and mega draws will be offered a four-night stay in a standard room with complimentary breakfast and dinner at a premium property of the KTDC (Kerala Tourism Development Corporation). The stay will be for two guests - the winner + one guest (family member/friend).
