Kerala Tourism has reaffirmed its ambitious development agenda for 2025 with Shri P. A. Mohamed Riyas, Minister, Kerala Tourism, announcing the department’s target of completing approximately 100 tourism-related projects. The announcement came during a high-level review meeting held on May 6th in Thiruvananthapuram, where senior officials from Kerala Tourism took stock of ongoing and proposed initiatives.
The minister instructed the officers to establish clear timelines for each project, ensuring systematic monitoring and timely execution. Officials were assigned to supervise each phase of the projects to prevent delays and maintain accountability.
In addition to reviewing infrastructure works, the meeting also focused on the state’s major tourism events. An advanced calendar was approved for Kerala Tourism’s flagship programmes such as the Onam celebrations, Champions Boat League, New Year festivities, and Beypore Fest. Minister Riyas directed early-stage preparations to ensure successful execution of these events which attracts domestic and international tourists in large numbers.
The meeting decided to establish a dedicated mechanism to track progress of projects sanctioned by the central government, aligning them with state-level priorities. Orders were issued to implement additional initiatives proposed during the Tourism Investors Meet, reinforcing Kerala’s proactive approach to tourism investment and development.
A notable outcome of the meeting was the approval of an action plan for developing WE-Parks-recreational spaces designed to be constructed beneath over-bridges across the state. Kerala Tourism Infrastructure Ltd. (KTIL) was assigned to undertake the development of these innovative urban spaces.
Tourism Secretary Shri Biju K, Smt. Sikha Surendran, Director, Kerala Tourism, and other senior officials participated in the review session.
