Minister Riyas Receives Title Deed for Aanathazhchira Tourism Project Near Technocity

A significant step was taken to boost tourism in Thiruvananthapuram with the launch of the Aanathazhchira tourism project near Technocity, Pallippuram. The initiative, part of Kerala Tourism’s wider effort to bring unexplored destinations to the forefront, aims to position Aanathazhchira as a vibrant tourism hub that combines eco-friendly attractions with nightlife activities.

Shri P. A. Mohamed Riyas, Minister, Kerala Tourism, formally received the title deed for 16.7 acres of land at Andoorkonam Grama Panchayat from Revenue Minister K. Rajan in a ceremony held at Aanathazhchira Ground. Minister for Food and Civil Supplies G.R. Anil, who represents the constituency, presided over the function. Senior officials from the Revenue Department, Kerala Tourism, and the local panchayat were also present.

Minister Riyas noted that the project will not only enhance the landscape of the village but also provide significant benefits to the local community through employment generation and infrastructure development. Echoing this, Minister Rajan observed that tourism projects have the power to transform places and that Aanathazhchira’s proximity to Technocity gives it immense potential to attract visitors and investors alike.

The Aanathazhchira project was first proposed by Minister Anil, recognizing the area’s untapped potential as a destination close to Kerala’s emerging technology hub. After the land was transferred to the Tourism Department, the project was included under the initiatives formulated during the Tourism Investors Meet (TIM). A dedicated project management unit, created as a follow-up to TIM, was tasked with preparing the framework and identifying sustainable ways to develop the location.

Planned as a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) venture, the project has been envisioned as Kerala’s first major “nightlife project.” An Expression of Interest (EoI) for construction activities will be floated in September, inviting investors to participate. The proposed facilities include water-based adventure sports, an eco-friendly children’s park, and a dedicated cycling track designed to appeal to both local residents and tourists.

Adding to its uniqueness, the Kerala Startup Mission (KSUM) will set up the country’s first Startup Mission Freedom Park on the fringes of the project area. The park will feature exhibition spaces showcasing innovative technologies and products from emerging startups, providing a space where creativity and tourism intersect.

With its blend of adventure, eco-tourism, and innovation, the Aanathazhchira project is expected to give a new identity to the locality and strengthen Kerala’s image as a forward-looking tourism destination.
