The Thenmala Ecotourism Promotion Society (TEPS) is looking to take its unique brand of sustainable tourism statewide. At its 15th annual general meeting held in the state capital, TEPS leaders resolved to seek a government mandate to extend their ecotourism activities beyond Thenmala, aiming for greater cooperation with various departments to boost Kerala’s profile on the national ecotourism map.

Shri P. A. Mohamed Riyas, Minister, Kerala Tourism, attending the meeting, said Kerala’s ecotourism efforts are gaining momentum, attracting an increasing number of nature lovers from across India and abroad. “The lush landscapes, diverse wildlife, and rich heritage make Kerala a top choice for travelers seeking authentic, sustainable experiences,” the minister noted, adding that the government is actively considering more ecotourism projects across the state.

TEPS Chief Executive Sreedhanya Suresh and Smt. Sikha Surendran, Director, Kerala Tourism, were among those present at the meeting, which also reviewed ongoing activities and progress on previous decisions. The society decided to submit a proposal to amend its Memorandum of Association and to renew its registration, further strengthening its organizational base.

The meeting approved the society’s budget for 2025-26 and audited accounts for past years. TEPS leaders promised to address concerns raised by executive members, including coordinating with other departments where needed.

With statewide expansion on the horizon, TEPS is poised to play a bigger role in making Kerala a model for ecotourism and sustainable travel in India.
