Thekkady’s Periyar Tiger Reserve in Idukki is one of the most sought-after locations in Kerala for nature walks that are guided by forest officials. Few people, generally under the direction of tribal guides, take the path through moist deciduous and evergreen forest, grasslands, and Periyar Lake viewpoints, and their main emphasis is on hearing, seeing birds, tracks, insects, and walking slowly and carefully.
